Apps want location, contacts and the microphone. Get what to allow and what to refuse.

Updated 17 Oct 2026

The prompt · ChatGPT

Help me decide app permissions.

App: [name]
Permissions it wants: [list]
What I use it for: [details]
Device: [iPhone / Android]

Ask me up to 3 short questions first if anything important is missing. Wait for my answers.

Then:
1. Which permissions make sense for that use.
2. Which to deny or set to 'while using'.
3. Where to review permissions later in general terms.
4. Tracking/ads settings worth checking.

Only use what I've told you, leave blanks for anything I haven't given, and don't invent facts, steps or official URLs you're not sure of. UK English.

Stay in this ChatGPT chat. Do not turn on apps or connectors, and do not use memory from another chat.
