Put home maintenance on a yearly calendar

Boiler, gutters, smoke alarms — you remember when something fails. Get a simple yearly checklist with reminders.

Updated 17 Oct 2026

The prompt · ChatGPT

Help me make a home maintenance calendar.

Home: [flat/house, rent/own]
Kit: [boiler, fireplace, gutters, garden, none sure]
What failed last year: [optional]
Who can do DIY: [me / need pro]

Ask me up to 3 short questions first if anything important is missing. Wait for my answers.

Then:
1. A month-by-month checklist.
2. Which jobs need a qualified person.
3. Reminder lines for a calendar app.
4. If renting: what is usually landlord versus tenant, marked to check on GOV.UK or Citizens Advice.

Only use what I've told you, leave blanks for anything I haven't given, and don't invent facts, diagnoses or legal outcomes. UK English.

Stay in this ChatGPT chat. Do not turn on apps or connectors, and do not use memory from another chat.

A short example

Fill the blanks, then paste. flat/house, rent/own: a short note you already have. boiler, fireplace, gutters, garden, none sure: a short note you already have. Leave the rest of the prompt as written.
