Make a home Wi-Fi and devices list

Nobody knows the Wi-Fi password or which gadgets are on the network. Get a household tech sheet.

Updated 17 Oct 2026

The prompt · ChatGPT

Make a home Wi-Fi and devices list I can keep safely.

What I know: [network name, approx devices]
Router location: [details]
Smart devices: [bulbs, TV, cameras — list]
Who needs guest Wi-Fi: [optional]

Ask me up to 3 short questions first if anything important is missing. Wait for my answers.

Then:
1. A template sheet (Wi-Fi, guest Wi-Fi, router admin note, device list).
2. What to photograph on the router label.
3. Security basics (change default admin password if still default — in general terms).
4. Where to store this sheet safely (not on a public fridge photo).

Only use what I've told you, leave blanks for anything I haven't given, and don't invent facts, steps or official URLs you're not sure of. UK English.

Stay in this ChatGPT chat. Do not turn on apps or connectors, and do not use memory from another chat.
